What is the company’s background?

Jet2.com has been flying commercial aircraft for 30 years, exclusively under the name, Channel Express (Air Services) for the first 20 years. Originally operating up to 14 Dart Herald aircraft, the company introduced, during the 1990s, Lockheed Electras, Airbus A300B4 ‘Eurofreighters’ and, in 2001, Boeing 737-300s. Boeing 757-200s were introduced in Autumn 2005. Charter passenger operations started in 2001, offering high quality corporate and specialist services flying to over 100 destinations.

Jet2.com, the leading leisure airline with friendly low fares, launched in 2002 with the first flight operating in February 2003, flying daily from Leeds Bradford International Airport, to and from Amsterdam. During 2003 scheduled flights were operated to 7 European business, city break and sun destinations, carrying more than 360,000 passengers in our first year. Now 24 Boeing 737-300 aircraft and 10 Boeing 757-200s (all of which are owned by the company), are located across our 8 UK bases and fly to 50 top sun, city and ski destinations in more than 15 European countries and 8 Mediterranean islands as well as Egypt, Israel and the USA.

In February 2007 Jet2.com launched its sister company - Jet2holidays - to offer customers great value package deals including flights and accommodation and transfers to destinations across Europe and beyond.

Where are your bases and how long have they been in operation?

Jet2.com has now flown over 20 million passengers to more than 50 destinations.

41 routes alone are offered from our headquarters at Leeds Bradford Airport, and the first commercial flight taking place in 2003.

On 29th September 2004, Jet2.com announced its second base, Manchester Airport. In doing so Jet2.com unveiled the largest ever single commitment made to Manchester Airport by any scheduled airline. A number of aircraft are based at Manchester serving 34 international routes.

Jet2.com flies to 10 popular European destinations from Belfast International Airport including Majorca, Pisa and Tenerife as well as 2 domestic routes including flights between Belfast and Leeds Bradford flying up to three times daily.

Exactly a year to the date that Jet2.com announced low cost services from Manchester, it also unveiled plans to open its 5th base at Blackpool International Airport. The announcement, on 29th September 2005, brought with it the introduction of flights to Murcia, Palma and Belfast which has now increased to 8 European routes including Ibiza, a new route from Blackpool from July 2008.

Hot on the heels of Blackpool, Jet2.com launched its 6th base at Newcastle Airport in October 2005. Things took off ever since our first take off, and we’ve rapidly expanded our route selection due to popular demand. We now fly to more than 20 sun, city and ski destinations from Newcastle, making us the North East's biggest leisure carrier.

Edinburgh International Airport was announced as Jet2.com’s 6th Northern base with flights commencing in Spring 2006. Jet2.com now offers 15 European destinations from Edinburgh including 2 new routes, La Rochelle and Toulouse which started flying in May 2008 and Scotland’s first scheduled route to Salzburg.

Jet2.com then went on to launch a base at East Midlands Airport, with the first flight taking off on 19th May 2010. Flying to 14 destinations, including Sharm el Sheikh, Turkey and Chambery, in the first four months over 25,000 passengers flew with the airine.

Jet2.com’s 8th base, and second Scottish base, was announced as Glasgow Airport on September 14th 2010, and flights will commence in March 2011. The airline will offer the region’s only direct service to Nice, as well as direct low fare flights to Alicante, Dalaman, Faro, Tunisia, Majorca, Paphos, Sharm el Sheikh.

Why should I fly Jet2.com?

Jet2.com is committed to offering unbeatable customer service, great value fares to a wide range of destinations and flights at convenient flight times. It also boasts the most generous baggage allowance on the market at 22kg and a customer loyalty scheme.

The airline is also well known for introducing innovation to the industry. In 2008, Jet2.com became the UK’s first low fare airline to offer a direct Trans-Atlantic scheduled service to New York.
