Crete is the biggest of the Greek Islands, which means there’s much more to explore including national parks, gorges, mountains, canyons - not to mention its 1000 kilometre-long coastline.

Crete holidays offer plenty of challenges for the adventurous so why not try your hand at one of the following?

Trek the Samaria Gorge

Hiking 16 kilometres along Europe’s second longest gorge will take you from the Omolos Plateau in central Crete to the Libyan Sea at Agia Roumeli on the south coast. The landscapes and views are spectacular.

Along the way you’ll see some amazing wonders of nature like freshwater springs, wild flowers and mountain forests.

Mountain Biking

Explore the island with its beautiful countryside and sleepy rural villages on a mountain bike. Breath-taking landscapes provide the perfect setting for a scenic ride, whether it's through vineyards and olive groves or past unspoilt villages on Crete’s wild west coast.

Scuba Diving

There's ample opportunity for scuba diving in Crete. A handful of schools offer excursions and lessons for both beginners and more experienced divers, giving holidaymakers the chance to view the stunning underwater landscape found in the Mediterranean.

If you haven’t visited Crete yet, summer 2011 may be the time to do so. With cheap flights to Crete available at Jet2.com you could soon be trekking along the spectacular Samaria Gorge or simply enjoying a glass of iced Raki on one of the 350 beaches Crete has to offer.
