Take a flight from Leeds or Manchester this Winter and discover the picturesque town of Bergamo and stunning Lake Como beyond.
Bergamo lies at the foothills of the Alps, so offers stunning views as you stroll around its cobbled streets between the shops and eateries. The town is renowned for its pastries and delicacies, so why not indulge with an espresso in one of the laid back cafés dotted around the town.
Lake Como lies just an hour away from Bergamo by road. The town of Como has ferry trips departing frequently to the little villages circling the lake. We recommend you take a Gestione Navigazione Laghi ferry from Como and get on and off at selected villages along the way.
Bellaggio, considered to be one of Europe's most beautiful towns, is a perfect place to wander the cobbled streets, enjoying the exclusive shops and fantastic local food.
Cernobbio is home to the stunning Villa D'Este Hotel which is famous for its many celebrity guests and a swimming pool which floats on top of the lake! If you fancy a relaxing drink, hunt out Harry's Bar where you can enjoy comfortable surroundings and the possibility of bumping into a certain Mr Clooney at the bar.
Top tip - There are many wine bars hidden away among the villages which have a happy hour around 5.30pm. For €6 you can have a cocktail and all the antipasto you can eat!
