A woman who caused a disturbance on a Jet2.com flight between Glasgow and Tenerife this summer has been banned for life from flying with the leading leisure airline. Joanna Felvus, 25, from Newmains, Lanarkshire, admitted in Paisley Sheriff Court to behaving in a threatening and abusive manner. She had previously told police she had too much to drink and now deeply regrets the incident.
The court heard that Felvus, who was travelling with a male companion, had to be warned twice about her conduct as she shouted, swore and acted aggressively despite young children being seated nearby.
The pair were separated by cabin crew as the plane prepared to land in Tenerife and Felvus was asked to hand over her passport before being advised that she would not be flying back to Scotland with Jet2.com, and that she was banned from all future flights.
Felvus’s defence agent Tony Callahan said she and her partner were forced to pay for a return flight with another airline at “significant cost”, adding that his client was deeply embarrassed and regretted the incident.
Imposing a £300 fine, Sheriff Robert Fife said: “Behaviour such as this is completely and utterly unacceptable. You are right to feel deeply embarrassed - no wonder you do.”
