Last month, fast-growing tour operator Jet2holidays.com moved its call centre back from Delhi to Yeadon and focus group market research has revealed that it has been an instant hit, so much so that the staff at the end of the line will now star in a radio and press ad campaign.
What's more, the MD of the business has pledged to head to the front line to take incoming sales calls, with one lucky caller winning an entirely free holiday.
Richard Bodin, MD of Atol-bonded Jet2holidays.com, said: "Bringing the call centre back to Yorkshire has been a double bonus for us – not only have we created 30 new jobs, but the local accent has been a huge hit with callers.
"Most of our staff are from the region and the Yorkshire accent came top in a focus group poll we've just completed on the service provided by the call centre team.
"So we're now going to use the staff themselves in a marketing campaign which starts next week where we're offering special offers depending on which staff member you speak to.
"I'll be on the floor handling calls myself and one lucky customer will be holidaying for free if they speak to me.
Haley Franklin, 37, from Leeds, one of the newly appointed Jet2holidays.com call centre staff, said: "It's really nice to know that we're having such a positive impact so soon for our customers.
"Given the business we're in, a lot of us like the sound of our own voice, so a few of the team are made up that we're going to be starring on the radio – watch out Chris Moyles!"
The radio and press campaign featuring the call centre staff runs for two weeks from 3 November, during which time everyone making a booking will receive a reward, ranging from:
- A Jet2 Plus upgrade if Claire answers your call
- 50 euros free holiday money if Lucy answers your call
- 10 per cent cash-back if Steve answers your call
- Through to a free holiday if MD, Richard Bodin answers your call.
