Christmas in Barcelona is a magical time with lots of festive little markets going on around the Spanish capital. By far the biggest and most popular is the Fira de Santa Llucia, which takes place outside Barcelona Cathedral in the Plaza de la Seu.
The market is one of the oldest in Spain, dating all the way back to 1786 and attracts shoppers from all over Europe.
Each year more than 300 market stalls sell seasonal goodies and handmade decorations while Christmas music, nativity scenes and piping hot food stalls add to the atmosphere.
Enjoy lots of Old Spanish Traditions
A popular feature and long time tradition of this yuletide fair is the giant caga tio - a huge, animated Christmas log. The log dispenses sweets and presents when kids beat it with a stick. (Similar to a Mexican piñata).
With lots of unique gift ideas in a truly magical setting, it is the perfect place to get you in the mood for Christmas. This year the Fira de Santa Llucia takes place from November 27th - December 23rd.
