Spain’s most historic and celebrated regatta, the Copa Del Rey (King’s cup) will return to Majorca at the height of summer this year.
One of the world’s finest sailing regattas will take place from 30th July to 6th August and will attract a whole host of international participants. This year will mark the regattas 30th year and is expected to draw big crowds including the Spanish royal family.
Spain’s royals are known for being keen yachtsmen and their involvement in the races over the years has helped to elevate the profile of the event on a global scale. Since the race was first held in 1982 the number of participants has almost tripled such is the growing popularity of the race.

The Copa Del Rey is competition sailing of the highest level but perhaps more importantly it’s a celebration of the Spanish way of life and spectators looking for a break from watching the races can visit the many restaurants, bars and shops that run along the Paseo Maritimo promenade.
Majorcan cuisine is fantastic as it combines both Spanish and Mediterranean dishes – food worthy of what is anticipated to remain the most glamorous regatta in the Mediterranean.
Anyone keen to experience the buzz of the Copa Del Rey will be pleased to hear that Jet2.com have cheap flights to Majorca on offer all year round.
