Danny Mills Celebrates with Fans as World Cup Mania Takes Off

14th June 2010

The friendly low fare airline has reported a significant surge in group bookings to European sunshine destinations during the three-week World Cup period, as holiday-makers not lucky enough to fly to South Africa, have opted for sun and fun whilst cheering on their national team.

The 10 strong group of football fans, who are also celebrating a stag do, was headed up by Andy Cheetham from Temple Newsam, Pensions Manager for the Ministry of Justice. Andy said: “Nothing beats the World Cup - it gives the whole of England something to celebrate. We are all looking forward to leaving the miserable weather behind and watching the football in the sun - definitely with a German beer or two!

We thought if we couldn’t have the stag do in South Africa, then why not take advantage of cheap flights from Jet2.com to watch the game somewhere closer to home. Meeting Danny is the icing on the cake, he’s an England and Leeds legend and it was an honour to meet him.”

Ian Doubtfire, MD of Jet2.com said: “We have experienced really high demand for our group booking services recently, with people wanting to soak up the World Cup’s carnival atmosphere in the European sunshine. South Africa is a long and expensive flight so its understandable that many people have opted for a cheaper destination and guaranteed good weather. We hope Andy and his friends have a fantastic time in Dusseldorf and its great to see Danny here before he goes off to South Africa himself next week.”

Meanwhile footballing hero Danny, 33 who lives in Harrogate said: “There’s just nothing like the World Cup for the sheer excitement it provokes in grown men! I’m really pleased to come down to Leeds-Bradford and see Andy and his mates before they jet off with Jet2.com for the first England game. I’m heading out to South Africa myself next week to do some commentating so will be lucky enough to experience the pitch-side action first hand, but if I wasn’t I cant think of a better way to watch the game than with a beer and some mates in Europe. Lets hope 2010 is our year...I’m sure our boys can do it this time!”

Jet2.com offers a specialised group booking service for parties of 10 or more, which offers a low deposit of £25 per passenger, BOGOF on seat selection and free name changes up to 2 weeks prior to departure.
