There are over a thousand islands around the coast of Croatia, and when you arrive on cheap Jet2.com flights to Dubrovnik you’ll be perfectly situated to pay some of them a visit. Each island has its own distinctive personality, so whether you want to party or just peruse the shops you’ll never be far from an exciting new island to discover.
Hop onto a ferry for a laid-back day trip to Korcula, a lush island covered with dense pine forests and with a history that dates back to medieval times. The island’s narrow stone lanes take you from the sea to the 15th Century square, from where you can explore the museums, art galleries and Croatian markets, or just indulge in some Dalmatian tapas on the pretty promenades.
A Taste of Croatia
If an afternoon on Korcula puts you in the mood for nature, the nearby island of Mljet will be just the ticket with its National Park and large saltwater lakes. Mljet is also a great place to pick up some souvenirs on cheap flights to Dubrovnik as it is famous for red and white wines that also perfectly complement the locally produced goat’s cheese.
The tiny island of Lopud also makes for a peaceful escape from bustling Dubrovnik, as it offers beautiful sandy beaches and completely car-free roads – not that you’d need a vehicle here anyway – but if it’s city life that you crave, head to the island’s harbour for plenty of great restaurants and bars to enjoy.
