The small pocket of
land that sits in-between the Pyrenees between France and Spain known as
Andorra may be famous for having the highest capital city in the world and the
second highest life expectancy in the world but it is attracting throngs of
visitors this winter.

The reason for this
is the amazing skiing it offers when the snow has set on the mountains. Jenny
Coad, writing for the Mail’s travel section has recently discovered this
thriving ski resort, noting that “it used to be considered a cheap place to
ski, but with a £112 million investment, including a new lift system and a raft
of high-starred hotels, it's not as budget as it once was.”
However, cheap
flights to Barcelona with Jet2.com ensure that it is still
possible to get there on a budget.
“A Pretty Journey”
With many popular
resorts like Val D’Isere and Chamonix not too far away, a ski trip to Andorra
can be overlooked. This though looks like it is changing. Ms Coad discovered
this on her brief visit. She said:
“We
came in from the Spanish side, a pretty journey, with the early morning sun
illuminating the peaks. Soldeu El Tarter and Pas de la Casa have long, sweeping
slopes and plenty of blue runs, which, as a near-beginner, suited me fine.
“The
intermediate areas are extensive, but for more of a challenge, Andorra's most
remote resort, Arcalis, is the better option.”
This
choice of slopes and amazing scenery are just two of the reasons that ski
breaks in Andorra are growing in popularity. Make the most of the cheap flights
to Barcelona from Jet2.com to discover this charming ski area.
