The twice weekly service to Budapest Airport is the leading
leisure airline’s 15th city destination from Leeds Bradford, giving
passengers from the region even more choice for a cultural city break this spring.
Ian Doubtfire, Managing Director of Jet2.com, said, “We
are delighted to offer the people of Yorkshire yet another fantastic city
break. As one of the most beautiful
cities in Europe, Budapest offers a great mix of old and new with stunning
architecture, traditional thermal spas as well as plenty of shops and
restaurants. Bookings to date indicate that the city is a very popular choice
for the region’s travellers. We’ve been
thrilled with the level of demand so far, with all seats booked on our first
flight which is due to take off this Thursday!
“Our inaugural flight couldn’t have been timed better, just as our myJet2 loyalty scheme reaches half a
million members. We are thrilled to have
so many loyal customers, especially in Leeds where over a third are based and it
was a pleasure to reward Laura as our 500,000th member with flights
to our newest destination.”
Laura said, “I joined the loyalty scheme as I have always enjoyed flying
with Jet2.com and I’m really
looking forward to being able to take advantage of the points I earn. It was
such a lovely surprise to be awarded with two free flights to Budapest and it
also means I have another great city break to plan when I get back from this
one!”
Members
of the myJet2 loyalty programme earn one point for every £1 spent on
flights as well as pre-bookable extras such as baggage and in-flight meals.
Points can also be earned for flights booked on behalf of family and friends, meaning
they can easily stack up quickly!
Tony Hallwood, Leeds Bradford Airport's Commercial Director, said,
"The beautiful Hungarian capital, Budapest, is the perfect choice for a
city break with its rich history and culture, combined with some fabulous
hotels and restaurants. As an important trading centre in Eastern Europe I'm
sure it will also be a welcome addition to our business route network.”
