- Jet2holidays crowned Best Short Haul Operator (Mainstream)
Jet2.com and sister company Jet2holidays, are enjoying a
double celebration after receiving two prestigious awards at the 19th
Annual Travel Awards of the Scottish
Passenger Agents’ Association (SPAA).
Jet2.com scooped the top award for Best Low Cost Airline whilst
Jet2holidays
was crowned Best Mainstream Short Haul Operator at a glittering ceremony that
saw guests from the travel industry unite to recognise excellence in the industry.
Voted for by the region’s travel agents, the leading leisure airline and
package holiday specialist beat off tough competition from rival travel
companies to claim the coveted accolades at the most important event in the
Scottish travel industry calendar.
The wins are hot on the heels of Jet2.com’s recent celebrations of
its first year anniversary at Glasgow
Airport where it has seen over 250,000 passengers transported to top
European destinations. With further expansion from seven new routes from
Glasgow planned in 2012 including a third based aircraft and 50 new jobs, and
new Alicante flights from Edinburgh
Airport, the leading leisure airline will continue to strengthen its
position in Scotland over the coming years.
With bases in Edinburgh and Glasgow each flying to 16 city, sun and ski destinations
across Europe, Jet2.com also received further commendation as runner up in the
SPAA Best European Airline category. The airline also recently achieved UK wide
praise from The Telegraph readers in
its annual travel awards where Jet2.com was proud to be named runner
up in the Favourite Short-Haul Airline category, second only to British
Airways.
There
was additional cause for celebration when Jet2holidays were also named Best
Tour Operator for the Iberian Peninsula and Islands at the British Travel Awards - the
largest survey of public opinion on UK travel industry performance and the most
anticipated awards in the travel industry calendar.
