Expect Fireworks at Courchevel’s Different Altitudes

14th January 2011 • Posted in Ski

In the heart of the French Alps, Courchevel benefits from being spread across four different altitudes offering visitors, making the most of cheap flights to Chambery or Geneva from Jet2.com, a very different image and feel.

Expect Fireworks at Courchevel

Courchevel 1650 is lowest in altitude and price scheme but still has much to offer with wide blue runs and some of the best snow.

Courchevel 1650 has a few chalets and hotels with chairlifts to 1850 and a bubble lift running daily from 0900 until 1930 to take you into the centre of 1850.

Courchevel 1300 is inhabited all year round feeling more like a real village with its own school, supermarket, restaurants, post office and baker. The braver and more experienced can ski back to 1300 down on one of two black runs.

 Enjoy Fireworks and Polo

The International fireworks festival runs from February 17 to March 10 2011. Several specialist pyrotechnic companies compete over each of the four levels of Courchevel. Each year almost 8000 spectators stand in the snow enjoying the shows with a cup of mulled wine.

Additionally, from 26 to 30 January 2011 Courchevel 1850 will become the glamorous focal point for The Polo Masters Tour. This is an après ski with a difference as the best players from Argentina and Europe battle it out at an altitude of 2007m.

With many cultural and sporting events, Courchevel really has something to suit everyone, which is why cheap flights to Chambery and Geneva from £14.99 one way, including taxes with Jet2.com, are so popular.
