06th October 2011

Now that autumn is here and the Spanish temperatures are a little cooler, there’s nothing to stop you getting out on the open road and enjoying Alicante’s wonderful array of national parks.

National Park of Carrascal de la font Roja

This is an unspoilt mountain range situated between the towns of Ibi and Alcoi. It’s popular with local hikers and the spectacular wildlife here includes wild boar, wild cats and golden eagles, rarely seen in many parts of Europe.

Alicante Beach View

Font Roja National Park

This is one of the most well preserved parks near Alicante and popular with campers and nature photographers. The views are breathtaking and features indigenous Mediterranean plants and varied wildlife including boars, genets and wildcats.

El Montgo Nature Reserve

Situated between the Spanish towns of Denia and Javea, El Montgo is a rocky ridge with many great walking trails and wonderful caves to explore.
For the best views look out for the high path that runs down Montgo to the Cape of San Antonio.
Autumn is an inviting time to visit the Costa Blanca as the sea is still warm and you can still enjoy plenty of sunshine. With cheap flights to Alicante available at Jet2.com daily, you could be enjoying the Mediterranean weather all year round.
