The north’s leading leisure
airline Jet2.com has announced that four more exciting city
destinations are now on sale from Leeds Bradford Airport for
summer 2012.

Flights to Düsseldorf,
Paris,
and Amsterdam
are now on sale with prices from just £19.99
one way including taxes, and Pisa from £29.99 one way including taxes.
Amsterdam flights will depart up to twice daily, while the Paris route will
operate daily and Düsseldorf six times a week – giving
holidaymakers the flexibility to book a midweek or weekend break which suits
their exact requirements. The Pisa flights, which will depart weekly, will
start in early May 2012, while the other three are a continuation of the
airline’s winter service, meaning holidaymakers can make the most of the
destinations across the year.
With more choice, friendly low fares and the anticipation of a great break away
to look forward to, there are plenty of reasons to book early. What’s more, Jet2.com
has even researched some of the most exciting events planned in these superb cities
for 2012, so holidaymakers can beat the crowd.
Steve Heapy, chief commercial officer of Jet2.com, commented: “We know many
of our customers like to book their holidays well in advance, so they can make
the most of their time away – and that’s especially true of city breaks. Trips
to a city destination tend to be jam-packed with sightseeing, shopping and
enjoying local delicacies, so extra time to plan is invaluable - whether it
helps with securing a ticket to a must-see event, or being able to swot up on
exactly what to do whilst away.”
Düsseldorf:
- Grosste Kirmes am Rhein is Düsseldorf's biggest festival and takes place over nine days
at the end of July. Attracting over four million visitors every year,
highlights include a circus, fairground rides, food and drink stalls and an
impressive fireworks display on the Rhine River.
- Every
August the Rhine’s main promenade is taken over with ‘Brazilian Night’. Latino music and samba rhythms fill the air while
Brazilian dancers encourage the crowd to get involved!
Paris:
- Held in
June, the Paris Air Show has been
the world's leading aviation and space event for over 100 years. With over 140
aircraft on show, 40 of which undertake aerial displays, it is ideal for
aviation enthusiasts or those who love to watch amazing spectacles from the
world’s leading pilots.
- Celebrate Bastille Day on 14th July
with the Parisians. A traditional
military parade on the Champs-Elysées, stunning firework displays, a giant
dance party and plenty of ad hoc entertainment, make this an event not to be
missed.
Amsterdam:
- The Summer Festival (Zomerfestijn) in July
is a popular annual music event, with free concerts and theatre performances
held during the afternoons and evenings.
- For
green-fingered enthusiasts, the colourful Amsterdam
Flower Pageant (Bloemencorso) is held on the first Saturday of September
and features parades of floats and boats bedecked with stunning floral
displays.
Pisa:
- June’s annual
Gioco del Ponte (Game of the Bridge),
involves twelve teams from both the north and south banks of the city staging a
number of battles. This historic event, which takes place in full medieval costume,
was first recorded in 1568.
- If you
fancy a trip to nearby Florence, why not tie in a visit to the Maggio Musicale? The city's major arts
festival takes place in May and June, with orchestral and dance performances to
suit a variety of tastes. Or the summer also sees another of Tuscany’s most
famous events – the Corsa del Palio in Siena
– a bareback horse race dating back to the 13th century, which
is watched by thousands of people.
Steve Heapy continued: “Jet2.com’s friendly flight times allow
passengers to start exploring their destination on the same day they arrive,
giving them the maximum chance to fit in all there is to see and do.”
Jet2.com offers flights to 39 city, sun and ski destinations
from Leeds Bradford Airport. All flights include allocated seating and points
can also be earned towards free flights with the popular myJet2 loyalty scheme.
