Goole Lady Scoops Luxury Getaway In Grand Yorkshire Quiz

22nd December 2010

Sunprime Coral Suites

Rather than feeling fed up with temperatures which have recently reached -19°c in the region, Ann can spend the festive season looking forward to enjoying her prize – a four star holiday for two to one of Tenerife’s most popular beach resorts.

Ann won the holiday prize after testing her local knowledge in the ‘Grand Yorkshire Quiz’, answering 50 questions covering topics on everything Yorkshire, from soaps to steel and sports stars to sightseeing.

Ann is one of 11 lucky winners who have won beach holidays with Jet2holidays. A further 500 people won return flights from Leeds Bradford Airport to Jet2.com’s city, sun and ski destinations.

Ann will fly with Jet2.com from Leeds Bradford Airport, enjoying allocated seating, generous 22kg baggage allowance and convenient flight times. On arrival in Tenerife she will be transferred to the four star Sunprime Coral Sunsuites and Spa in Playa De Las Americas, Tenerife, for a week’s holiday. Recently refurbished, the new ‘adults only’ Sunprime Coral Sunsuites and Spa, is a superb addition to the popular, vibrant resort of Playa de Las Americas. Enjoying a central location, great food, contemporary decor and modern leisure facilities, including a spa centre which offers a serene setting and an array of pampering treatments, these four star suites make the perfect choice for an enjoyable holiday on the year-round sun drenched island of Tenerife.

Ann said: “I am delighted to have won such an amazing prize! My husband is actually Welsh, whilst I’m from Yorkshire so it was him who said I should test my local knowledge. That said, some of the questions were really tough and he did help me with a few of them! I can’t wait to escape the cold for my week away and can’t thank Jet2.com and Jet2holidays enough!”

Philip Meeson, boss of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “As the leading leisure airline for Yorkshire, we wanted to reward those who had a great knowledge and understanding of our home region. We had a fantastic response to the Grand Yorkshire Quiz with over 10,000 entries in just five days. And entrants spanned the country – obviously there were some Yorkshire-wannabes or perhaps ex-tykes keen to put their knowledge to the test! We’re delighted to have given away 11 holidays and over 1,000 flights and we hope everyone who won enjoys their trip.”

When it comes to the quiz results, across the board the young ‘uns put their elders to shame, with those aged 16 to 30 getting a higher average score than those in any of the older age brackets. The over 70s scored the lowest average marks, but still managed a very respectable 39 out of 50. The most ‘patriotic’ Yorkshire towns were revealed as follows:

1.       Leeds

2.       Bradford

3.       York

4.       Wakefield

5.       Huddersfield

6.       Harrogate

7.       Halifax

8.       Keighley

9.       Ilkley

10.   Hull

Proving the War of the Roses is a long-distant memory, Manchester ranked 24th in the top 50 towns where people took part – the highest ranking of all locations outside of Yorkshire!
