Idris Elba, star of The Wire and Guillermo Del Toro’s recent science fiction epic Pacific Rim, has taken up the mantle of guest DJ in a luxury Ibiza hotel.
The actor has reportedly taken a break from acting to purse his music career and will be DJing under the mantle of Driis. Since Elba’s increasing fanbase as an actor means attendance at his DJ sets could fill up fast, it is advisable to book tickets along with cheap flights to the Balearic Islands as soon as possible.
For a span of seven weeks, Elba will perform DJ sets at Pikes Hotel, which is located near Ibiza Town. His DJing comes as part of the music festival Ibiza Rocks.
A Cool House Party Vibe
The actor described his Friday night DJ parties as both “understated” and “intimate”, explaining that the gatherings are far removed from the standard big club nights associated with some resorts on the island. He said attendees will experience a “cool house party” feel.
This isn’t Elba’s first foray into DJing; the 40-year-old actor, originally from East London, previously took the position of resident DJ at a popular London venue.
Elba isn’t the only famous face to land on the Ibiza DJ scene this summer; American socialite Paris Hilton has also taken up a DJ post at the island’s famous Amnesia nightclub.
The Ibiza Rocks festival will run until 20th September, when Zane Lowe and Mark Ronson will present the W.A.R Closing Party. Those looking to attend should secure cheap flights to the Balearic Islands with Jet2.com to avoid missing out.
