Jet2.com cabin crew were treated to an impromptu performance by Opera North as the leading leisure airline today helped the company make its first-ever touring visit to Ireland’s capital.
The Leeds-based opera company will perform one of Puccini’s best-loved operas, Madama Butterfly and Handel’s baroque masterpiece, Giulio Cesar for two productions over four nights at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre. Both productions originally opened at Leeds Grand Theatre, the home of Opera North, before touring the UK over the winter.
Steve Heapy, Chief Commercial Officer of Jet2.com, said, “Opera North makes a major contribution to the arts in the North of England and we are thrilled to be able to support them on their first touring visit to Dublin.”
Dougie Scarfe, Opera North’s Chorus and Orchestra Director, comments: “Opera North is delighted to be visiting Dublin and we would like to thank Jet2.com for their support in flying us to Ireland. The chorus and orchestra members are tremendously excited to be bringing Madama Butterfly and Giulio Cesare to Dublin, in a new venue for Opera North at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre. We are all looking forward to performing for a new audience in Ireland.”
