Jet2.com Supporting Yorkshire Business

24th October 2011

Ian Doubtfire joined FIFA Referee Howard Webb and ITN's Chris Choi speak at Chamber event.

On 20th October 2011, the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce held its annual dinner to celebrate the year’s achievements and enjoy an evening of fascinating speakers.

World Cup Final Referee, Howard Webb, was the Principal Speaker and Ian Doubtfire, Managing Director of Jet2.com, was the Keynote Business Speaker. Chris Choi, Consumer Editor at ITV National News, was the host for the evening.

Ian spoke about meeting the demands of customers in the current difficult economic times and how Jet2.com and Jet2holidays are ensuring that we have great leisure destinations, are better than the competition and represent great value. Jet2.com supports the Yorkshire economy by employing local staff at its head office base at Leeds Bradford Airport and uses local suppliers such as Seabrooks, Exquisite Cakes and A Little Something Extra and making travel and holidays affordable for the people of the North.

Ian's presentation was followed by Howard Webb who spoke about his experiences on and off the pitch and gave the Chamber guests the opportunity to ask questions.  According to the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS), Howard is one of the top referees of all time and last year he became the first English referee to officiate a World Cup Final since 1974. In the 2011 New Years Honours List, Howard was awarded an MBE and he has been particularly commended for being the first man to referee both the Champions League Final and World Cup Final in the same year.
