If you were watching Channel 4 at 10pm last night, you will have seen a Jet2.com aircraft commandeered by Derren Brown for his latest hit TV show “Hero at 30,000 feet".
Matt from Leeds was taken through a month long process which culminated with him having to make a split second decision on whether to take control of a Jet2.com Boeing 737 full of passengers when our cabin crew convinced him the pilot was suddenly taken ill. (Which, we hasten to add, was an entirely unrealistic situation, purely designed for the show!)
Matt’s fear of flying added to the fact this wasn’t an easy decision to make, and genuine Jet2.com cabin crew had to become actors for the evening, trying to encourage Matt to step up and save the day, whilst keeping the whole scenario realistic for him.
Over 50 Jet2.com employees were involved to make the show happen, it was a fantastic experience to take part in, and Derren and his team were amazing to watch. And despite knowing it was not a real life situation, it was tense stuff – it certainly got the heart pounding!
