01st February 2012
Prague is a great place to visit all year round but visitors will be treated to a special carnival atmosphere throughout February as the Bohemian Festival takes place at various locations throughout the city centre.
As if Europe’s most vibrant city needed added incentives to attract UK visitors, the festival is one of the best carnivals on the continent. The opening party at the Old Town’s Clam-Gallas Palace gets things underway when the streets come to life with costume parades, exhibitions, art shows, food events and evening parties.
Europe’s Biggest Costume Parade
Perhaps the highlight of the carnival is the world-renowned, Candelion - Grand Defile, a spectacular costume parade through the streets of Prague with lanterns and masks.
Outdoor events are free to attend, whereas some of the indoor events have an entry fee and tickets need to be bought in advance. For more information, visit the festival’s official website at: www.carnevale.cz
The Bohemian celebrations begin on February 10th in the city centre. With cheap flights to Prague available at Jet2.com, you could be joining in the costume parades and enjoying some of the many special carnival dishes served up by local restaurants.
