- New in-flight entertainment release promises a scorching summer of entertainment
Jet2.com
has got a treat for film-buffs, music-lovers and telly-addicts travelling this
summer.

Paul Humphreys, Jet2.com retail director, joins holidaymakers from Leeds in meeting in-flight entertainment stars Kung Fu Panda and Spongebob Square Pants
A raft of exciting new in-flight entertainment will
go live for the start of August, including a selection of recent blockbuster movies
and the nation’s favourite TV shows. In addition, the airline has reduced the
cost of hiring the touch screen media players by 25 per cent to just £7.50* per
European flight , allowing more people the chance to enjoy entertainment whilst
jetting to or from their holiday.
In-flight
entertainment is available on Jet2.com routes to the Canary
Islands, Israel, Turkey, Cyprus, Greece and New York, enabling customers on
flights of four hours or more to relax and enjoy some quality viewing.
The new Summer
2011 content includes high-grossing children’s films Kung Fu Panda 2 and Rio,
superhero film Thor, romantic drama Water for Elephants and the Wigan-based UK
film SoulBoy. For those wanting a shorter watch, TV shows available include
comedy classic Only Fools and Horses, everyone’s favourite Gavin and Stacey, and
for music-lovers the popular guilty pleasure that is Glee. For those tempted by
a trip to the amazing city of Barcelona, there is also the chance to swot up on
the must-do activities, with an edition of Paul Merton in Europe which looks at
the Catalan capital.
New options
for younger viewers include every toddler’s favourite In the Night Garden, along
with Horrible Histories, Spongebob Squarepants and What’s New Scooby Doo. A large
selection of music is also available – from chart-topping hits to classic
albums.
Each unit can be attached to the seat in
front or can stand on the seat back tray table and the viewer can watch what
they want when they want. The devices have a high resolution seven inch touch screen
and offer quality audio delivered through a set of ear buds which the customer
can keep, or as the units have a standard headphone jack they can choose to use
their own. Jet2.com sells headphone splitters onboard making it possible
to share a device – ideal to keep the kids entertained and currently half price
at just £3.
Paul Humphreys, Retail Director
of Jet2.com,
commented: “With our ergonomically designed seats, which have been developed to
provide extra leg room, customers really can sit back and enjoy the journey in
comfort. We all lead busy lives so it is great to be able to use the time
travelling on our holiday to catch up on the latest movies and TV, its also a
great de-stressing start to your trip and will keep children entertained for
the entire journey.”
The in-flight entertainment units
can be pre-booked online for just £7.50 or purchased as part of a family bundle
which also includes baggage and seat selection. Alternatively units can be
hired on board, subject to availability, for £10.00 per flight. Units are
available for Jet2.com’s longest flight – the transatlantic journey to New
York for a Christmas shopping break – for just £15.00 per flight.
The in-flight entertainment can
be booked at the time of booking flights, or can be added on later using the
‘Manage my booking’ section of the website which conveniently allows passengers
to be able to select their seat and tailor their trip with options such as in-flight
