Local markets are always exciting places to visit no matter where you are in the world, but few will be more visually enthralling than Barcelona’s Mercat de La Boqueria. It’s been said that La Boqueria is more of a food museum than a market, and it’s an essential place to visit after your arrival on cheap flights to Barcelona.
Situated just off the bustling main street of Las Ramblas, La Boqueria is a small but impressive market, and will be an experience for every one of your senses. Each stall is arranged almost like an art exhibition, with piles of vibrantly coloured fruits, tempting ready-prepared fruit salads and freshly made smoothies that are sure to get your tastebuds tingling.
Sweets and Meats
Those that brought their sweet tooth on cheap flights to Barcelona won’t be able to resist the candy stalls of La Boqueria, with enormous boxes of chewy treats, homemade fudges and delectable chocolates.
There are also stalls dedicated to baked goods – the smell of which will be enough to draw you closer – and arrays of meats, some of which you may have never even heard of, but will certainly want to try after your visit. La Boqueria is the ideal place to pick up some delicious souvenirs to take home, but we’d understand if they don’t even make it into your suitcase!
