As one of the great entertainment hubs of Europe, the Spanish city of Barcelona is constantly at the centre of some of the continent’s most exciting events.
As we head into summer, the famous city will be playing host to a number of new and exciting festivities that complement the great weather perfectly. Coupled with cheap flights to Barcelona from Jet2.com, it means there’s no better time to pay it a visit.
One of the Most Prestigious Music Festivals
The end of May will see Barcelona’s premium music festival kicking off. The Primavera Sound Festival has grown to become one of the most prestigious festivals in Spain, attracting some of the world’s biggest and most talented musicians.
2011 is no exception to that rule, with a host of A-listers featuring in the extensive line-up. The Flaming Lips, Sufjan Stevens and Exho & The Bunnymen make up just some of those names, with a variety of other bands and events forming the rest of the festival.
Because it’s in venues throughout the city, attendees won’t have to wrestle with the camping and rain usually associated with festivals, making it an all-round great event to go to if you’re in the Spanish city.
On Your Bike
During June, the Bike Show BCN will be held in Barcelona. Encompassing a range of different two-wheelers, from dirt track racers to BMX freestylers, the event celebrates bikes in their varied forms. Enthusiasts from around the world gather for the unique event, but newcomers to the sport will also find it wildly entertaining, with stunts and tricks forming a large part of the shows.
