Deciding where to go skiing in Europe can be tricky, especially with so many great mountain regions to choose from. Austria often represents better value for money than the most popular resorts of the French Alps.
With vast mountain ranges, beautiful glaciers and hundreds of ski resorts, Austria has something for everyone. Salzburg Airport is the gateway to many of Austria’s top ski resorts like, Alpbach, Saalbach and St Anton.
Alpbach – Great for Beginners
This pretty little village in Western Austria is small and compact with oodles of atmosphere and a breathtaking backdrop. It’s a very friendly resort, which is why UK families return year after year.
Saalbach – Good for Intermediates
This beautiful resort is only a 90-minute drive from Salzburg and offers skiing for more adventurous intermediates. It also has the added bonus of owning the most sophisticated ski lift system in Austria.
St Anton – Expert Skiers Paradise
This has some tricky slopes and is well known for attracting seasoned skiers. Beginners and families are always welcome too but the slopes at neighbouring Lech and Zurs are more suitable.
Remember, all of these beautiful resorts and hundreds more are within easy reach of Salzburg. Jet2.com offers you cheap flights to Salzburg from Edinburgh, Leeds Bradford and Manchester.
