Skiers and boarders jetting off this Half Term will be relieved to hear that the Alps are currently experiencing heavy snowfall - up to half a metre in places!
Many of the French resorts have experienced a frustrating time of late, with limited new snow over recent weeks.
Resorts in the Southern Alps such as Alpe d’Huez, Les Deux Alpes, and Serre Chevalier in France were therefore relieved to see the snow dump on Monday, just in time for the peak weeks. The fresh powder has resulted in perfect ski and snowboard conditions in the French, Italian, Swiss and Austrian resorts.
Snow is expected this weekend for more of the Northern resorts in the Alps such as Trois Vallees, La Plagne, and Les Arcs as a fresh northwesterly front is slowly building. The weather across the Alps next week is likely to be mixed, with more of the white stuff on the way!
It’s great news for those already booked to head for the slopes, for those who haven’t there’s still time to book a February ski trip.
