Hungary’s biggest festival of the year is set to get underway in March. The annual Spring Festival brings together the very best in classical, opera, jazz and folk music, as well as theatre performances and film screenings.

The Spring Festival was first held in 1980 and has since grown into one of Europe’s key cultural events. In 2005 it won the European Culture Award and is going from strength to strength annually.
John Malkovich to Star at Budapest Spring Festival 2012
Hollywood actor John Malkovich will be one of the biggest draws at this year’s festival when he takes to the stage to star in the world famous play ‘The Infernal Comedy – Confessions of a Serial Killer’. Malkovich is no stranger to the theatre. It’s where he began his career in 1976 before moving into films.
Venues
The Spring Festival takes place from 16th – 26th March at various well-known venues across this wonderful city. This year venues will include the National Gallery, the Hungarian State Opera House, the Ferenc Liszt Music Academy, the Palace of Arts and the Matthias Church.
