Lindos is the second most popular town on the island of Rhodes and it’s easy to see why. This ancient picturesque village with its white washed houses and pebble-paved courtyards is dominated by a magnificent acropolis. With so much to see and do, here are a few things worth visiting in Lindos.
This spectacular building sits proudly almost 400 feet above the village. It can be reached on foot or by donkey and inside you’ll find ancient ruins, the sanctuary of Athena and the church of St John.
St Paul’s Bay
This is a beautiful, small rocky bay south of Lindos town. The water is clear and calm, making St Paul’s bay an ideal place for swimming and snorkelling. There are two beaches and a small family run café overlooking the bay.
Lindos Glass Bottom Boat Trip
The calm, crystal clear waters around Lindos are ideal for a glass bottom boat trip and it’s also a great opportunity to explore other nearby islands where the beaches are less busy.
Lindos caters for all tastes with its huge variety of restaurants and Greek tavernas, serving everything from kebabs to freshly caught seafood. Moussaka is a popular dish on the island and the local wines can be very pleasant and offer good value.
If you haven’t visited Lindos yet, summer 2011 may be the time to do so. With cheap flights to Rhodes available at Jet2.com you could soon be enjoying everything that this beautiful resort has to offer.
