Following the success of the 2010 Clash of the Titans, a sequel is currently being filmed and once again the cameras are on Tenerife.
The volcanic and mountainous terrain of the Canary Island was used in the first film and now the filmmakers have returned, largely because this terrain isn’t found anywhere else in the world.
It is mainly in the north, where the outcrop is greener and the climate has helped to etch a dramatic landscape, that the scenes are being filmed. Such an imposing backdrop, principally provided by Mount Tiede, is fitting for the epic nature of the film.
Visitors are usually left in awe when visiting this part of Tenerife. It is a far cry from what most people expect when they take cheap flights to Tenerife. The landscape is scarred with weaving tracks and walkways, trodden by armies of visitors keen to discover Tenerife’s more natural beauty.
Delving underground also unlocks more secrets of Tenerife’s natural beauty. Cueva del Viento (the “Cave of the Wind”) is a great place to learn more about the origins of the island from its volcanic begins. There are regular tours available that usually last a couple of hours – just make sure you keep the hard hat on.
Jet2.com have regular cheap flights to Tenerife available to discover the Titans terrain.
