Courchevel, the popular French ski resort, is also the playground of Europe’s richest man, when he isn’t on his yacht in the Cote D’Azur.
A couple of weeks ago Forbes released their annual rich list, placing billionaires into rankings based on their wealth. Bernard Arnault, who has hands in Dom Perignon, Luis Vuitton and Hermes, was the highest placed European and it appears he has a taste for skiing.
A Luxury Status
The billionaire owns the luxury hotel Cheval Blanc in Courchevel which is thought to stem from his love of the place.
It isn’t hard to see why anyone would fall in love with Courchevel. Located in the popular Three Valleys, the resort is perfect for both skiing and snowboarding and offers a veritable network of plush shops and restaurants to keep people entertained off the slopes.
It is things like Mr Arnault’s hotel that has helped propel Courchevel to its luxury status. Yet, despite this, the place is surprisingly affordable.
It is thought that Mr Arnault likes to spend some of his spare time in winter relaxing and Courchevel offers the perfect variety for this.
He’s not the only one to enjoy the place; cheap flights to Chambery from Jet2.com take plenty of friends, families and couples to Courchevel every year.
