Hailed by some
environmentalists as a pollution-free zone, Zermatt is also regarded as one of
the best ski destinations in the world, accessed by cheap flights to Chambery
or Geneva from Jet2.com.
Located in the canton of Valais,
in the western part of Switzerland, this ski resort village rests at the base
of the famous picturesque mountain, the Matterhorn. The resort is also
connected to Cervinia on the Italian boundary.
Providing limitless ways to
explore and with a variety of restaurants and several various excursion
alternatives, Zermatt is certainly an ideal holiday destination.
Plenty of Accessibility
Zermatt imposes a no-car policy
to protect the environment, so the furthermost area you can go with your car would
be Tasch, which offers multi-storey car parks to tourists with cars.
Cost of parking is about 100
Swiss Francs per week. From there, tourists will be transported via
electro-taxis, electro-buses, and bicycles, but walking is also popular with
the locals. Other hotels use horse-powered carriages to transport visitors.
For The Ski Lovers
The resort is obviously aimed
at professional and intermediate level skiers, but also offers slopes for
students and regions for snowboarders. It covers 21 black runs, 41 red, and 12 blue
pistes. Lifts from Zermatt can hold up to 70,000 people an hour. Snow cannons can
also enhance the ski experience by adding snow.
Getting to Zermatt couldn’t be
easier with cheap flights to Chambery and Geneva available with Jet2.com.
