I.E. 6 has two different places where cookie options can adjusted, and both of these need to be set to 'accept cookies'. Open the Tools menu and select Internet options. Both the Security Tab Options and the Privacy Tab options need to be set to accept cookies (the Privacy Tab is new to I.E. 6).

Security Tab: With the 'Internet Zone' selected, the Security Level for this zone should be set to a maximum setting of 'Medium'. (It can be less - but it provides less safeguards)

Privacy Tab: To change the settings for all websites: Go to the 'Privacy' tab. Click on the 'Advanced' button. Tick the 'Override automatic cookie handling' box. Select the 'Accept' option for both First-party and Third-party cookies and tick the 'Always allow session cookies' box. Click OK. Click OK again.

On the menubar, click the Tools and select "Internet Options..." When the Internet Options screen opens, select the "Security" tab. Select "Custom Level". Scroll down to the Cookies section. Ensure that cookies are enabled to be stored and allowed on session level. Click the OK button to close the Security Settings screen and the OK to close the Internet Options screen and return to the browser.
