Sight Seeing in Almeria

Discover Almeria's wild pirate past and medieval history on a short break to this popular region of Spain. The Alcazaba is a Moorish fortress which is part ruins but provides great examples of towers, baths and dungeons from its medieval past. The highest point provides great panoramic views of the city's cave quarter.

Almeria Cathedral is a grand 16th century building built in place of the former Cathedral that was destroyed in a great earthquake. It is beautiful in its Gothic-Renaissance style and has a fortress like appearance after suffering pirate raids. The great altar is home to some priceless artworks and features magnificent decorations of marble and jasper.
