Sight Seeing in Blackpool
Blackpool is popular with tourists for a reason as there is plenty to see and do in this fun seaside town. Dominating Blackpool’s Promenade, of course, is the famous 518-foot Tower, an undercover playground with floor upon floor of amazing adventures from the grace and splendour of the beautiful Victorian Ballroom, to the amazing views from the Tower Top and the award-winning Tower Circus.
Take a stroll and marvel at the ever-growing range of giant sculptures and eye-catching artworks on New South Promenade, including the world's biggest dance hall mirror ball, measuring 20 feet across.
Away from the seafront, try a leisurely stroll through leafy Stanley Park - Blackpool's award-winning horticultural and wildlife treasure, or take your little monkeys for what has to be one of the resort's most exciting days out at Blackpool Zoo. Close by is the small but perfectly formed Model Village and Gardens. This marvel in miniature even comes complete with Blackpool trams!
As the long days of summer begin to wane, and other resorts put up their shutters, Blackpool comes to life at night in a blaze of colour as nearly six miles of Promenade host the ‘greatest free show on earth’ – Blackpool Illuminations. They start anytime from end of August, check out www.blackpool-illuminations.net for latest information on dates.
Before you leave don’t forget to have a look round the fantastically tacky souvenir shops for Blackpool rock, sugar pigs and ‘Kiss me quick’ hats to take home for friends and family! Make sure you don’t eat too much rock yourself before going on the terrifying rides at the Pleasure Beach!
