Sight Seeing in Sharm El Sheikh

As one of the top three diving locations in the world, no sightseeing holiday of Sharm El Sheikh would be complete without going snorkeling or scuba diving to experience the wonder of this underwater world with beautiful reefs and vivid sea creatures. There are several snorkeling facilities and diving schools in the area so you don't even need to have any experience.

The Ras Mohammed National Park is well worth a visit for its vast sand dunes, fossilised corals and mountains. It is also home to some rare animals including over a thousand species of fish, crabs and turtles. The Coloured Canyon is another marvel of Sharm El Sheikh and is one of the natural wonders of Sinai with its awe-inspiring sandstone canyon with dramatic rock formations.

Mount Sinai is arguably the most popular and famous attraction in Sharm El Sheikh as it is the mountain on which Moses received the Ten Commandments from God. If you can manage the 4000 steps to the top of the mountain you will be thoroughly rewarded as not only is this an important religious site, but also provides stunning views from the peak. Also an important pilgrimage site is St. Catherine's Monastery, home to the Burning Bush.

One of Sinai's most important archeological sites is Serabit el Khadim, which is the remains of an ancient city with the ruins of buildings and temples providing a fascinating insight into ancient Egyptian life. Of course no trip to Egypt would be complete without taking an excursion to Cairo to visit the world famous Pyramids. Many different types of excursions are on offer including 24 hour driving tours where you are taken to visit the Pyramids, Valley Temple, Sphinx and Egyptian Museum as well as providing lunch and time for shopping at the El Khalili Bazaar.

For an authentic taste of Egypt take a camel ride into the Sinai Desert; you could even have dinner under the stars with the Bedouin people and learn about their culture.

Romantic Breaks in Sharm El Sheikh

The location of Sharm El Sheikh on the Sinai Peninsula makes it a fantastic location for a romantic beach holiday with your loved one. Imagine spending lazy days lounging on the golden sand, cocktail in hand with a good book... or else why not try diving together and visit the beautiful underwater land in one of the top three diving locations in the world!

Rangoli Restaurant serves Indian cuisine and is perched on a hill overlooking the Red Sea and Naama Bay from its open terrace. You can enjoy a candlelit dinner at L'Italiano, an Italian restaurant overlooking the ocean, or head to one of the most romantic restaurants in Sharm El Shiekh, Al Fanar, an open air restaurant on a sandy cliff, decorated with fairy lights and with stunning views across the bay.

Fun Seekers in Sharm El Sheikh

Fun seekers will be absolutely spoilt for choice for things to do on a holiday to Sharm El Sheikh. Its great location on the Red Sea means that there is a plethora of water sports to choose from including windsurfing, wakeboarding, waterskiing, banana boat rides and parasailing. Of course being one of the top three diving locations in the world, Sharm El Sheikh also offers schools for scuba diving and snorkeling so there is no need to have any experience. You can see the amazing underwater world of coral, turtles, dolphins and sharks as well as thousands of species of fish. The popular diving attraction of the World War II wreck: the SS Thistlegorm, Tiran Island and the Ras Mohammed National Park are both popular diving locations.

If you're feeling ambitious and full of energy then why not take the challenge of climbing the 4000 steps to the top of Mount Sinai. As well as being an important religious site, the views from the peak are breathtaking and well worth the climb.

The Jolie Ville Golf Resort is an 18 hole championship course well worth a visit to work on your swing and there are also many other activities to try throughout Sharm El Sheikh, including go-karting and bowling.

It you fancy a desert adventure then head out on a camel ride into the Sinai Desert or even take a desert jeep safari to get that adrenaline pumping.

In the evenings you are spoilt for choice for places to eat with every type of cuisine on offer including Indian, French, Japanese, Mexican, Italian and even Mongolian Barbeque! The trendy and lively Naama Bay is where the vast choice of eateries can be found as well as a huge array of bars and clubs. Sharm El Sheikh is renowned as the party town of the Red Sea Riviera and with its eclectic clubbing scene it certainly doesn't disappoint. The Buddha Bar and Camel Bar are both very popular, as is superclub Pacha for a great night on the town. There are also a number of Casinos in the area if you've got cash to splash and you're feeling lucky.

For a slightly quieter evening head to Old Sharm where the alleys and narrow streets are lined with restaurants, with locally caught fresh fish as a delicacy. You will also find the Old Market here where there are plenty of bargains to be found at cheaper prices than in Naama Bay.

Family Fun in Sharm El Sheikh

Sharm El Sheikh is a fantastic destination for a family beach holiday with stretches of clean, golden sand and the clear, warm waters of the Red Sea. If a bucket and spade isn't enough to keep the kids entertained for long then why not try snorkeling where the vivid underwater life is bound to amaze both children and adults. The Near Garden in Naama Bay is just one of many child friendly snorkeling spots and several have Kids Snorkeling Clubs where they can learn.

A Glass Bottomed Boat Tour is another activity that families will enjoy. You can see the bright corals and colourful sea creatures without having to get up close and personal while enjoying a trip on the Red Sea feeling the cool breeze on your face.

Cleo Park – The Pharaonic Water Park is Sharm El Sheikh's ancient Egyptian themed water park. With slides, rides and pools such as the Lost Pyramid and Cleopatra Bath, snack bars, shops and even a massage centre there is plenty here to keep the whole family entertained.

If the kids like getting dirty then why not try a spot of sand surfing across the sand dunes of the Sinai Desert, alternatively you could all take a Camel ride for a real taste of Egyptian life.
