Paleochora
Overview
Paleochora is located on the South West coast of Crete. The resort has a village feel with a population of only 2000 permanent residents it is the perfect location for a holiday if you’re looking for rest and relaxation in the sun.
The beautiful long sandy beach is a great place to wile away to days and top up your tan. The area along the beach is where the main hub of activity is to be found with several exquisite restaurants and shops where you can stock up on the essentials.
If you have young children Paleochora is great as the main roads along the beach are closed in the evenings during the summer months so your children can run around freely.
The nightlife in Paleochora does not reflect with that of Malia and Heraklion however there is still a vast selection of bars from traditional Greek tavernas to trendy cocktail bars and an open-air disco.
Things to do
Watersports
The slightly exposed location of the beach in Paleochora makes it great for watersports, especially surfing and windsurfing. The clear waters are great for snorkelling and a new diving school opened only a few years ago so it doesn’t matter whether you’re a novice or an expert there is something to suit everybody.
