Overview

Lindos

The modern village of Lindos is steeped in history and is a real culture-vulture's hotspot. In this resort you will find a mix of various impressive architectural styles from Byzantine Greek to Gothic. Picturesque and pretty, no cars are allowed through the winding streets making it perfect for a relaxed stroll whether you are looking to find a nice café to stop for a refreshing drink or for an original bargain to take home with you from one of the many little shops selling local crafts. Also take a visit to the Ancient Village Church and the Portico Building; these old ruins were once used for religious ceremonies.

With great restaurants to be found around the resort you can take your pick for a delicious evening meal then take a walk along the beach to watch the sun set. Take a stroll down to St Paul's Bay, a stunning natural harbour which is overlooked by the Acropolis. A long road leads up to the Acropolis: it really is a beautiful walk, but if your feet get tired then you always have the option of hiring a donkey at the bottom and enjoying a relaxing ride up to the ruins.

Greek cuisine

Lindos has a fantastic choice of restaurants for authentic evening meals both in the square and along the beach. Try The Skala on Pallas Beach for delicious meat dishes served out on the terrace with a beautiful view across the ocean or The Kalypso for scrumptious food served in one of the Old Captain's houses.
