Olbia (Costa Smeralda)
Olbia in the North West of Sardinia is the great place to start your holiday in Sardinia. Located on the beautiful Costa Smeralda coastline it is surrounded by wild and rugged natural scenery with rivers running through the rocky mountains home to a variety of wildlife species. The mountains are an ideal place to go whether you want to go hiking and rock climbing or even just to get amazing views of the island.
Olbia has fantastic beaches that are popular for sunbathing and watersports all year round. With beautiful stretches of beach and lively nightlife made up of stylish drinking areas and piano bars, Olbia is just one of the towns in Sardinia where you can do a bit of celebrity spotting as the rich and famous often choose to holiday here.
As Olbia is a port town with a thriving fishing industry, make sure you sample some local produce at one of the delicious fish restaurants. It has become more modernised over recent years with excellent bars, restaurants and shops cropping up regularly but the centre still retains a historical feel with the traditional architecture of the town hall.
There are also numerous historical ruins and cultural sights to visit nearby such as the Holy Well of Sa Testa and the impressive San Simplico church.

Sardinia is a really popular destination amongst golfers and Olbia has one of the best golf courses on the island – Il Pevero. The course itself is set in the most amazing surroundings with views of the sparkling blue sea to one side and the rugged rock formations of the coastline to the other. Il Pevero also has a restaurant and bar to relax in after a round of golf as well as a shop and swimming pool.
Have a fun day out when you make a splash at Aquadream, Sardinia’s water park near Olbia. With thrilling water rides and more gentle paddling pools as well as places to stop for a bite to eat Aquadream is great for families and groups of friends.
