The resort

Wagrain is part of the Salzburger Sportwelt and is one of the 28 towns and areas that make up the Ski Amadé region. The resort has a bustling centre with a tourist focus.

A trip back in time

Wagrain’s parish church dates back to pre-1450 and the Baroque church to 1616, these spectacular buildings add character and charm to the quaint town centre. Once a mining area, this town was first referenced in a 1243 deed.

Christmas in Wagrain

Wagrain is a magical place in the run up to Christmas. Take a look around the Silent Night Advent market and stock up on local crafts. Leave a wish at the Wishing Linden in the town centre and discover the enchanting display when all of the town’s hopes and goals are exhibited.

Après ski

Wagrain has a really good après-ski scene with bars dotted around the resort. Enjoy a traditional Austrian meal and quiet drinks at one of the many surrounding restaurants or if you’re looking for something a bit livelier, there are loads of busier bars and pubs to choose from.

The highlights

  • Look out for the winter concerts held over the Christmas period.
  • The Ski Amadé region was named after Salzburg-born composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
  • Don’t miss the ice rink that opens in the afternoons.
