Fabulous freestyle

Known for its epic freestyle and off-piste skiing, Alagna is the place for a more exciting pace on the snow. Specifically for beginners and tentative intermediates, Wold is ideal. But if you’ve got nerves of steel, Olen is one exceptional black run! Head over to Champoluc for more options, and even get involved in Alagna’s night skiing.

Ski v snowboard

Skiers – forget the lifts. Alagna’s got all the mod cons for heli-skiing, so why not put your daring side to the test and make your way via helicopter and start partway down a mountain? All season long, boarders will be blessed with awesome rough terrain, so it isn’t just a skier’s paradise. If you’re after terrain parks, venture over to neighbouring resorts.

Rustic resort

Alagna is much more traditional and rustic than your ordinary, classic ski resort. Aside from its popular valley trails, you’ll find the distinctive house of Tanzio da Varallo, plus the Church of St John the Baptist built in 1511. The building’s complete with striking sculptures crafted by celebrated Italian artist Giovanni d’Enrico.

The highlights

  • Scenic spot with plenty of photo opportunities.
  • This is the most acclaimed resort in the Alps for freeriding.
  • Cosy après-ski scene with seven bars to drink in.
