Booking cheap flights to the Spanish Costas is easy with, which has regular services to such major airports as Malaga, for the Costa del Sol, and Reus (or Barcelona) for the Costa Brava.

They also have excellent connections to Alicante and Murcia (San Javier) airports. This is good news for families booking summer holidays to the Costa Blanca, which some would argue has a lot more to offer than the beaches of Benidorm. Along the Costa Blanca coast are dozens of quieter resorts that are perfect for families wanting to escape from the crowds - such as the charming village of Pilar de la Horadada, located close to the safe white beaches of the Mar Menor.

A Touch of History on Holiday

A historic town just 3km inland, it is ideal for the holidaymaker who likes a touch of history and culture mixed into their beach holiday. Boasting an ancient watchtower and important Roman ruins, its modern architecture is equally attractive, and includes a stunning pedestrian bridge, which has just been selected to represent Spain in an international competition to select the world’s best new concrete structures.

The 60m structure, spanning an artificial waterway linking the two sides of the town, is known as the El Puente del Beso, or Kiss bridge; so-called because the design, inspired by the ancient Japanese art of origami, is that of two interlinking structures which ‘caress’ each other as they meet.

A beautiful addition to the region’s growing list of modern attractions, the Kissing Bridge serves as a gentle reminder that it sometimes pays to look beyond the obvious when booking cheap flights to the Spanish Costas.
