Budget City Breaks with a Difference in Barcelona

02nd October 2012 • Posted in Announcements

If you’re in need of a holiday, you may be pleased to know that there’s a way to see all the sights of Barcelona without draining your bank balance - and the best time to do it is now. This is when the peak of summer tourism is ebbing away, the sea water is warm and welcoming and the evenings are losing the oppressive heat that made them heavy and uncomfortable during August.

Barcelona on a budget image

What’s more, September sees Barcelona hosting its biggest fiesta of the year, and with the euro still weak the cost of a long weekend city break to Barcelona has never been more affordable.

Finding Your Way Around

To stay within your budget, take the Aero bus from the airport through to the Placa Catalunya. As you leave the bus you’ll see that you are close to the tourist information centre, so grab yourself a free map and off you go.

The medieval streets of Barcelona are just perfect for exploring on foot and you are sure to find lots of hidden gems as you navigate the winding streets. Keep a special eye out for the things that you can enjoy for free because costly admission fees can soon eat up your funds.

Colour and Energy

Lots of Gaudi’s colourful works are free for you to look around, and of course the scenery from the rooftop cafes will cost you no more than a coffee. Food is cheap if you eat with the locals, and even drinks won’t cost a fortune if you keep away from the main tourist areas – so beware of Las Ramblas!

Getting there is affordable too, with cheap flights to Barcelona available through, so why not treat your body and mind to a Barcelona break for a lot less than you may have expected.
