First ever direct flights from Scotland to Avignon, South of France.

23rd March 2007 today announced the latest route to be added to its ever increasing destinations from Edinburgh. Flights to Avignon will be available for the first time from Scotland with the inaugural flight leaving Edinburgh on 23rd June 2007. What’s more it’s the only direct route to Avignon from the North.

Offering the best of both worlds, with the refined elegance of the city and the rugged beauty of the surrounding Provencal countryside,‘s latest service to Avignon should satisfy even the most demanding holiday maker.

Avignon is bursting with culture and historical monuments and in July the whole city buzzes with the annual Avignon theatre festival. Forever immortalised in song, the beautiful old ‘pont d’Avignon’ is another must see attraction for tourists.

What makes the city so desirable is that it's the perfect gateway to the Provence region of France. Having become increasingly popular with tourists in recent years, the vineyards, quaint hill top villages and olive groves make the perfect contrast to the hustle and bustle of the city and are all easily accessible from the airport.

The people of Scotland will be singing along to the famous song about Avignon before you know it:

“Sur le pont d'Avignon
L'on y danse, l'on y danse
Sur le pont d'Avignon
L'on y danse tous en rond
Les beaux messieurs font comm' çà
Et puis encore comm'çà”
