A team of and’s finest footballing superstars took on the Thomas Cook squad in a charity football match under a cloudless blue sky at Leicester City’s Walkers Stadium yesterday (Sunday 23rd May).

The charity game may have seen Thomas Cook walk away with a narrow victory, however the team, which included Managing Director, Steve Heapy, had a ball entertaining the hundreds of spectators who had turned out to view the derby match, in sweltering temperatures.

He commented: “The football match was a great way to vent some of our competitive energies away from the office! Perhaps, has the expertise in the skies as opposed to the football pitch but I’m sure we’ll be back next year to settle the score! It was great for me to meet the team which was made up of staff and crew from our new and base at East Midlands Airport!” and announced five new routes last week to Alicante, Palma, Faro, Bodrum and Rhodes, taking the total number of destination served by from East Midlands Airport to fourteen. A second aircraft is being positioned at the airport and is creating 150 new jobs in the region.
