Off The Romantic Beaten Track in Paris

With Christmas holiday season approaching, followed by a certain date of romantic significance in February, booking a cheap flight for a city break in Paris is the perfect way to get into the spirit of things. However, lest we baulk at the cliché of it all, we’ll provide you with a slightly more alternative agenda.

Now open at the Pinacotheque de Paris, until May is Van Gough, Dreaming of Japan, the exhibition solely devoted to the painter in Paris, examining the influence of Japanese impressionism on his work.

Wine, Tea and Sweets

Visit the Place des Abbesses an incredibly pretty Parisian square that looks fresh off the location shoot for Amelie. It is full of trendy bars, cafes and fashion boutiques. 

Brush up on your wine tasting skills and visit O Chateau, just around the corner from the Louvre. There are classes on every day, and once you’ve swotted up, O Chatteau’s wine bar has over 40 different wines by the glass to tickle your taste buds. 

Ever the home of literary genius, visit Tea and Tattered Pages on the rue Mayet. Stocked with second hand English language books, you can read a few chapters whilst being served a lovely cup of tea and some sweeties!
