You just can’t beat the beach in the summer - for soaking up the sun, cooling down in the sea, even trying your hand at watersports like windsurfing or diving. But to make it a truly unforgettable holiday you need to find a truly unforgettable beach!

Ibizas Best Beaches

With over 50 of them around its coastline, Ibiza’s the perfect place to head for if you want to feel the sand beneath your feet and the sea lapping round your ankles. All of the island’s beaches have a lot to recommend them, but we’ve picked our top five – there’s sure to be the dream one for you...

Cala Tarida beach - Set on the South-West coast of the island, about 10 minutes’ drive from San Jose, this long, white sandy beach slopes gently into the sea. The warm, shallow waters make it the perfect place to splash about and, For extra peace of mind, there are also lifeguards on duty too. Take a pedalo across the shetered bay and wonder at the amazing blues and emeralds of the sea beneath you.

Playa d’en Bossa beach - In the South-East, just outside Ibiza Town, Playa d’en Bossa is a firm favourite with watersports fans. There’s a long-established windsurfing school and conditions are at their very best when the south wind blows. You can also try your hand at kitesurfing and diving or there are even catamarans for hire for more experienced sailors.

S’Argamassa beach - In the North-East of the island , between Santa Eulalia and Es Caná, you’ll find S’Argamassa Beach. It’s secluded, clean and very well kept with a number of excellent eateries along its length. The most famous of these is called Cesar’s and it’s best known, all over Ibiza, for its mouthwatering seafood paella.

Benirras beach - 10 minutes from San Miguel and approched by a meandering road leading through pine forests, Benirras is a sheltered cove whose rocky bottom is teeming with colourful shoals of fish so it’s perfect for snorkelling. If you do visit, make sure you stay until dusk when a band of musicians descend on Benirras to carry out the daily ritual of “drumming in the sunset”.

Cala Jondal beach - Set on the South Coast, Cala Jondal is a favourite hangout for the rich and famous drawn to Ibiza for some well-earned relaxation.  Celebs who’ve been known to head for the island include both Kylie and Danii Minogue, Leonardo Di Caprio, Rafa Nadal and Katie Price. Many visit on luxury yachts and some of the restaurants on Cala Jondal even offer free water-taxi service to encourage the well-heeled to visit them!
