The Pink Star of Geneva

03rd October 2013 • Posted in Announcements

Set to be the most valuable diamond ever sold at auction, the ‘Pink Star’ diamond will go on sale in Geneva, Switzerland, in November with a record asking price of $60 million.

The rare gem is held in extremely high esteem. Pink diamonds are a rare find in general but an internally flawless, 59.60-carat stone is almost beyond belief.

The previous record setter was another pink diamond – the ‘Graff Pink’ diamond, also sold in Geneva for over $46 million in 2010.

The Pink Star

The oval cut diamond was originally mined in Africa in 1999 by the diamond mining company, De Beers, and it took Steinmetz Diamond company two years to complete crafting its perfect state.

It was previously sold in 2007 to an anonymous buyer for an undisclosed amount.

If you don’t have a spare $60 million dollars in your bank you needn’t miss out, before it is sold, the ‘Pink Star’ diamond will go on display on a world tour and visitors to Geneva will have the opportunity to marvel at the pricey gem.
