Visit Prague Christmas Markets

06th December 2011 • Posted in Announcements

Prague Christmas markets are among the best in the world. They run daily throughout December and are a favourite with visitors from all over Europe. The best time to visit one of the markets is at night when the stalls light up the city centre and give Prague a truly festive feel.

Prague At Night

Brightly decorated wooden chalets sell all kinds of traditional Czech products, from handmade Christmas decorations to scented candles and jewellery. Some of the huts will look like Santa’s Grotto to the kids, as traditional hand carved toys sit invitingly on the shelves.

Lots of Festive Food

The abundance of traditional Czech food on sale at the markets is just what you need to warm you up at this time of year. Hot smoked sausages, corn on the cob and delicious pastries are favourites with visitors.

But perhaps most impressive of all is the giant Christmas tree, which is erected in the Old Town Square and draped in sparkling decorations.

The Christmas markets usually take place from around 26th November – 08th January. The main markets are held at the Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square. You’ll find smaller markets at Republic Square and Havel’s Market.

With cheap flights to Prague available at, you could soon be sipping seasonal hot wine and shopping for a bargain or two at the city’s magnificent Christmas markets.
