16th December 2011 • Posted in Announcements

There are many events taking place in Barcelona this winter but none are quite so wacky as the annual Buff Epic Run. Competitors race around an 8km obstacle course dressed in fancy dress at Montjuic Castle.

Spectators get to witness Catalan locals at their craziest as well as being able to take in wonderful panoramic views of the city. The obstacle course itself features mud pits, giant straw bales, tyre mountains, foam pools and many other obstacles.

The Event is Open to Holidaymakers too

Anyone can enter Barcelona’s craziest race of the year but places are limited to 2500 participants. It’s all just for fun but there are prizes for the winners of the race as well as the best fancy dress costumes.

The costumes worn by many competitors have a medieval theme in keeping with the stunning castle venue, but any kind of costume can be worn. Past runners have dressed as bumble bees, super heroes and even giant turtles.

Whether you fancy taking part or watching the 8km race from the sidelines at Montjuic Castle, make sure you book your cheap flights to Barcelona at for the year’s craziest race.
