Corfu Town mixes a strong Venetian influence with a cosmopolitan atmosphere in the main resort of Corfu. With shops, bars, restaurants, tavernas, a small beach and numerous sightseeing opportunities, Corfu Town really does have it all.
The narrow, winding streets lead you to pretty churches, squares and gardens where you can relax in the sun or head to the Liston where you can shop all day and then rest your feet in a café. Or else head to the market where you can pick up some bargains. There is also a Cricket Pitch which was introduced by the British, where you can sit with a cool glass of beer and watch weekend games.
You won't be disappointed for sightseeing in Corfu Town either with its strong Venetian past there are many buildings of interest such as the Theatre of San Giacomo built in Italian renaissance style and the Palace of St. Michael and St. George.
The main hub of activity is centred around the main square, Spiniada, where you will find the majority of luxury restaurants, traditional tavernas, hip bars and clubs such as DNA and Apokalypsis.
There is a small beach in Corfu Town, Mon Repos, however better, larger beaches with water sports can be found just a short drive away as well as the water park, Aqualand which is a must especially if you have children.

Corfu Town is where you will find the main sightseeing places on the Island. With the 17th century Theatre of San Giacomo, Palace of St. Michael and St. George and the famous St. Spyridon's Church which is instantly recognisable by its large bell tower and red roof. It contains the mummified body of St. Spyridon himself and the casket is sometimes open for the public to see. The town is also sandwiched between two fortresses, the Old Fort and New Fort both of which are well worth visiting and offer panoramic views.
One of the best water parks in Europe, Aqualand is centrally located on the island making it easily accessible from most resorts not just Corfu Town. It is great to visit especially if you have children and offers a fantastic day out with numerous slides, rides, tunnels, pools and a Jacuzzi. There is even a restaurant, mini-market and bar so you can stay there all day.
